JOB DESCRIPTION

CCLC Passages Teacher

Overview
The Passages Program is a home-based, self-paced high school diploma program developed and run by the Community School (C-School) of Camden, Maine. The curriculum and delivery model of Passages were developed to meet needs specific to pregnant and parenting teens seeking an alternative program through which to achieve a high school diploma.

The Cobscook Community Learning Center has partnered with the Community School to expand the service region for Passages to include Washington, Northern Hancock and Southern Aroostook Counties. The CCLC Passages Teacher works with the CCLC’s Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator to deliver the Passages curriculum to CCLC’s Passages students. CCLC’s Passages Lead Teacher/Program Coordinator holds the leadership position for this program expansion, working with and under the supervision of the C-School’s Passages Program Director and CCLC’s Director of Education and Programs.

The first two months of this full-time position will be dedicated to training. After that initial start up period, the work may become part-time, depending on enrollment. 25% full time equivalent is 1-3 students. 50% or half-time employment is a 4-6 student load. 75% is 7-8.  A full-time teaching load is 8-10 students. Employment status will be reviewed per quarter (at the end of March, June, September and December). The individualized, home-base nature of the program adds extensive travel to student homes to the list of teaching duties.

CCLC’s Passages staff works directly with the C-School’s Passages team and attends weekly staff meetings and professional development sessions, most frequently, via the video conferencing technology in place at both sites. The Passages Teacher is responsible for understanding and delivering the CCLC’s Passages curriculum within the philosophies, practice, spirit and quality consistent with that established by the C-School.
